However, the artist makes the ordinary, extraordinary.  The artist said about this painting " This is common: boats come in for the impending winter, fallen leaves are raked into a pile, red car parts lean against the garages, brown tarps cover summer's hot rods.  It is all basic stuff, and at another time of day, or another time of year, I may have kept walking, but when I saw this, it was lit in such a way s to showcase all those things, those wonderfully arranged things. In the space of that afternoon, the commonplace became inspiring.  I was excited by the colors of the boat echoed on the last of the leaves...".
