Painted during hunting season, the pigeons fly above the barn every time a gun shoots. This is the largest plein air painting done mostly outside by Joshua to-date. Price: $1,800

Done in Saint Lawrence Township, MN.  Painted primarily on-location.  It was done during deer hunting season, so nearly everytime the hunters would shoot, the barn pigeons would fly around the barn yard.  There is a gentle frost in the shadows, which reflects the deep blue of the sky.  In the sun the frost has melted and the resulting wetness makes the colors richer.  At the show opening in August 2011, the current owner of the property came by.  She had seen the painting in the newspaper and had no idea that I had painted at the end of her driveway for 6 hours that day!  She said that the barn was built by Mr Cleary between 1930 & 1935ish time frame.  There wasn't any electricity in the rural areas at that time, so he hand cut and plained each board of the barn by hand.  Great bones to this day!
